Why Diamond Studs Are the Perfect Gift

Diamond studs are the gift with nothing to guess: no ring size, no style that dates, and a pair that goes with everything from jeans to a black-tie dress. Lab-grown diamonds buy a visible size for the money, natural ones a mined origin, and both come in solid 14K or 18K gold.

Why Are Diamond Studs the Safest Diamond Gift?

They fit everyone, they go with everything and they are worn every day, so the gift is seen and used.

  • No ring size to guess, and nothing to measure.
  • Worn every day, with everything, at any age.
  • Matched in pairs, the two diamonds chosen to agree in size, color and sparkle.
  • Easy to build on: a larger pair can follow for a later anniversary.

What Size Diamond Studs Should I Buy?

Go by the pair's total carat weight, remembering it is shared between two earrings: a 1 carat pair is two half-carat diamonds.

For everyday wear, a pair between half a carat and one carat in total reads clearly without looking heavy. Larger pairs suit someone who already wears bold jewelry. Every pair's page shows how wide each stud is in millimeters, which says more about how it looks on the ear than the carat weight does.

Lab-Grown or Natural Diamond Studs?

Lab-grown for the most size for the money, natural if a mined origin matters to the person you're buying for.

Our lab-grown studs are F-G in color and VS in clarity, with an IGI report. Our natural studs are G and VS, with a report from HRD. At stud sizes the two look alike once worn; the difference is the origin and the price.

Which Setting and Backs Are Best for Every Day?

A four-prong basket holds the diamond securely and lets in light from the side; push backs are the everyday standard.

Three prongs show a little more of the diamond, four hold a round's outline as a square, and a martini setting sits closer to the ear. If she has never worn diamond studs, a four-prong basket with push backs is the easy choice.

Questions

Is a stud's carat weight for one earring or both?

Both. Stud earrings are described by the pair's total carat weight, so a 1 carat pair is two diamonds of about half a carat each.

What is a good first pair of diamond studs?

A lab-grown pair of half a carat to one carat in total, in a four-prong basket with push backs, in the gold she wears most.

Do the studs come with a grading report?

Yes. Lab-grown pairs come with an IGI report and natural pairs with a report from HRD, covering the diamonds' grades.

Can I return diamond studs?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery, like our stones and bracelets. Keep them for 15% off your next purchase, or return them and a $69 restocking fee comes off the refund. Faulty pieces come back free.
