Fluorescence

Beyond a point, this one changes the price more than the stone. It is where most people overspend.

A glow under UV light, present in about a third of diamonds. Faint to medium fluorescence is invisible in daylight and can make a slightly warm stone look whiter; strong fluorescence occasionally causes haziness in very high-color stones.
